Grandir UK acquires The Wishing Tree Nursery
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of The Wishing Tree Children’s Nursery in Brighton.
The Wishing Tree Nursery is a family-owned day nursery that opened its doors in 2004. It is set in a beautiful, detached house next door to Withdean Park off Carden Avenue – one of the main roads leading into Brighton – and has a fantastic local reputation for providing the very best quality childcare, supported by a well-qualified, long-standing staff team.
The setting has been owned by Lewis and Jayne Wood since 2004 and was recently brought to market due to their desire to retire from the sector.
Following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co, the business has been purchased by Grandir UK, which takes their group to 71 settings across the Midlands and South.
Lewis and Jayne Wood, the previous owners of The Wishing Tree, commented: “Within a few weeks of initial approaches by Sophie to potential buyers, we were very encouraged to receive interest from a wide variety of nursery operators and were keen to find a buyer who matched our most important objective, which was for our nursery to retain its identity and culture. We’d spent 19 years building a great reputation and trust in the community and we didn’t want that lost in a major re-branding. Sophie’s insight led us to Grandir who ticked all the boxes for us, and we’re delighted to say the handover is going as well as we’d hoped.”
Lydia Hopper, chief executive of Grandir UK, stated: “Jayne and Lewis have successfully crafted a stellar reputation providing childcare solutions to families in the local area. They have confidently left the nursery in Grandir UK’s capable hands to continue providing high-quality childcare where children will enjoy an enriched and unique range of education programmes, along with nurturing and inspiring learning environments. We are very much looking forward to meeting the children, families, and staff teams over the coming weeks.”
Sophie Willcox, director – Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said:“We were in receipt of multiple competitive offers on The Wishing Tree, which came as no surprise to me. Lewis and Jayne have a wonderful nursery and provided excellent information which allowed the buyers to make reliable offers on the business. I wish Grandir every success for the future of the business, and Lewis and Jayne a very happy retirement.”
The Wishing Tree Nursery was sold for an undisclosed price.
