Utsaha Education enters UK nursery market
Utsaha Education has previously invested in an overseas nursery business, and this is its first purchase in the UK market, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Barnes Day Care in Barnes, South West London.
Barnes Day Care is a 30-place day nursery catering for children aged zero to five years. Situated in a converted residential property on the affluent leafy street of Westmoreland Road in Barnes, South-West London, the nursery is known locally for having an excellent reputation due to its ‘home from home’ feel and its excellent staff team.
Louise Campbell, who has owned the setting since 2014, recently chose to sell to focus on other ventures and spend more time with her family. Following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co, the business has been sold to Utsaha Education which plans to build on the success of the nursery to date.
Louise commented: “I’m delighted that Sophie connected us with Utsaha Education which is committed to keeping the family ethos of Barnes Day Care alive.”
Sophie Willcox, director – Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, who assisted with the sale, commented: “It has been a pleasure working with Louise in the sale of her nursery. Despite the pandemic, the business has been very resilient; growing in occupancy and profitability. I think it is a great first UK purchase for Utsaha Education, which has the benefit of a strong and experienced staff team in place. I wish them all the best for the future of the business. This is yet another example of strong demand for quality single assets in London.”
Legal advice for the vendor was provided by Rebecca Leask and Joe Mulrenan from Harrison Clark Rickerbys Solicitors, and the buyer used Mark Traynor at TLT LLP.
