Training provider launches apprenticeship for nursery managers

Early years training provider Realise has launched a Level 5 apprenticeship for nursery leaders.
The nursery management apprenticeship is designed to equip early years professionals with the advanced skills, knowledge and confidence needed to excel as effective and impactful nursery managers.
Karen Derbyshire, operations director for early years at Realise, said: “The course is specifically tailored for individuals who are already working in a nursery management role. It offers a unique opportunity to build skills beyond basic nursery management competencies and provides advanced knowledge in areas such as commercial awareness and project management.”
The apprenticeship will take a year-and-a-half on average, typically consisting of 18 months of learning and five months for end point assessment. Learning will take place face-to-face, online and in the workplace, with two full teaching sessions per phase.
The last seven to eight months of the course will consist of support sessions with a trainer assessor ahead of the end point assessment. Learners will join a cohort of other nursery managers, enabling them to build a support network during the apprenticeship and beyond.
Apprentices will cover topics such as the legal responsibilities of a nursery manager and understanding different leadership styles.
“The sector desperately needs skilled leaders as the industry continues to battle against rising costs, staff shortages and forthcoming changes to free childcare. This apprenticeship will give people the knowledge they need to succeed and to build a fantastic career,” said Derbyshire.
To complete the apprenticeship, learners need to have completed a Level 3 qualification and must be working within an early years setting as a nursery manager.
The course can be 95% funded by the government or paid in full through the apprenticeship levy. The employer will fund the course but Realise can assist learners in accessing funding.
