Tops Day Nurseries achieves B Corp certification

Tops Day Nurseries has achieved B Corp certification, showing its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
To achieve B Corp status, companies must undergo a detailed assessment and gain a minimum score of 80 out of 200. Tops Day Nurseries achieved a score of 141.2.
“We are thrilled to have achieved B Corp certification,” said Sandy Kemish, data quality manager at Tops Day Nurseries. “This certification is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team to provide exceptional care for children while making a positive impact on our community and the environment. We believe that business should be a force for good, and this achievement further reinforces our commitment to leading by example and creating a sustainable future for generations to come.”
Tops Day Nurseries initiatives include a Zero Waste to Landfill program, sustainable food practices with locally sourced, organic, and seasonal ingredients, and investment in energy-efficient systems like LED lighting and smart heating. The nurseries feature eco-friendly buildings designed with green spaces and sustainable materials. The company has banned glitter to reduce plastic waste and encourages the use of reusable nappies to minimize environmental impact. Tops also actively supports local communities through outreach and educational programs.
