Millfield Nurseries has taken its first step into the childcare sector with the acquisition of Dolphins Childcare Centre in Somerset.
This event is organised by Nursery Management Today, the key Publication for owners, directors and senior management in the nursery sector nationwide.
The event will follow the formula of our highly successful Nursery Agenda Events but will be specifically targeted by invitation only to Owners and Directors of Nursery Groups nationwide who are looking to add to/expand/extend their nursery portfolio and would like to meet buying agents, banks, finance brokers, extension specialists, refurbishment companies and architects as well as insurance brokers. This is a free event. This nursery forum will allow providers to meet with these suppliers in face to face meetings during the day to discuss their requirements and see if they can do business together. All the meetings will be held in a large attractive room. The suppliers will sit at specific tables and the providers move between them using a pre-arranged timetable of meetings to guide them. The meetings last fifteen minutes with five minutes ‘movement’ time and are split between the morning and afternoon with a good buffet lunch between!
The NMT Nursery, Estate, Acquisition & Expansion Forum is a great opportunity for nursery owners and directors to discuss opportunities with suppliers in the industry. The 2nd event kicked off with a fantastic presentation from Arun Kanwar, a partner at Cairneagle, who spoke about the key trends that were influencing the market and the avenues for growth.
Although there are challenging times ahead, Arun highlighted that this is still a lucrative time to be active in the industry.
This is where our networking system comes into play. Meeting face-to-face, each nursery circulates through the main room with 15-minute slots to discuss their goals with suppliers and decide on whether business can be done. The meetings are split between the morning and afternoon with a great selection of meals to pick from the buffet lunch.
The closing remarks were given by one of the industry’s giants, John Woodward, Co-founder and President of Busy Bees childcare and Managing Director of Busy Bees Benefits.
John reflected on his time in the industry and how drastically the sector has changed…but mostly for the better. He said the key is to recruit and grow a quality team to be able to navigate through the changes seamlessly.
Regulation, technology, international expansion and recruitment will continue to shape how the sector moves forward. He concluded by saying that there are still many challenges to overcome, but there has also never been a more exciting time to be in the industry.
We rounded off the day with a cheese tasting and drinks reception, well deserved after busy day of business!
