N Family Club becomes a certified B Corporation
To achieve B Corp status, N was assessed on its policies and practices, mission,
ethics, accountability, and transparency.
N has today committed to delivering at least 80 fully funded nursery places by 2026 and 100+ places annually thereafter. Evidence shows that children who receive high-quality care and education in the early years achieve better outcomes in life . Given these huge benefits, N established its own bursary scheme in 2021 to offer fully funded places to children in their local communities who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to enrol, beyond government funded hours.
In conjunction with local children centres and generously supported by Positive Future Partners, including N’s investor Gresham House, N Family Club filled 10 bursary places in 2022, giving these children the best possible start to their learning journey.
Central to its B Corp certification, N believes that teaching and practising sustainability must start as soon as learning begins – role modelled through experience and supported by good and ethical practices right across the business. This ranges from small choices such as giving families reusable wet bags for dirty laundry and backpacks made from recycled plastic bottles to optimising sustainability through building design and construction and using renewable energy sources.
Simone Carter, managing director at N Family Club said: “Being a B Corp means we’re always accountable and are committed to continuous improvement. It also supports our purpose and gives us a platform to inspire change within our sector. We couldn’t achieve any of this without our amazing team and our approach has always been to give early years educators the respect and value they deserve – offering sector-leading benefits and bonuses for all. This year has seen a significant investment into team salaries, bursaries, and the launch of our new shareholder programme for nursery managers and our new employer brand, which celebrates the breadth and diversity of our team.”
Peter Bachmann, managing director of Sustainable Infrastructure at Gresham House
said: “N has always been a highly ethical and committed employer and educator and I’m proud of their incredible progress to date. B Corp’s greatly respected principles provide N with a new framework to benchmark success and ensure we continue to meet our goal of becoming the highest quality, most sustainable and most loved early years education group in the UK.”
