Nursery owners doubled the funds raised by a nursery fun day, donating a total of £882 to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Wembley Park Montessori’s Charity Family Fun Day, attended by more than 200 children and parents, included a special appearance by children’s TV character Bluey.

Children were able to take part in extra-curricular activities offered at the nursery, including yoga, sports sessions, and Community Sounds, an initiative to encourage musicality in children from a young age. Other activities included outdoor games, arts and crafts, face-painting and some Montessori activities.

Headteacher Priya Patel said: “It was really important for us to give families who might not be aware of Montessori, an insight into the huge educational benefits this approach to learning offers, not to mention the fun children have whilst learning in this way. We were delighted to share some fantastic Montessori activities with so many visitors whilst raising money for Great Ormond Street.”

Local businesses, including Beirut Wonders, Subway, Chaboba, SwimKidz, Opa!, Remoli and Treatz, donated raffle prizes and discount codes. Additional prizes were provided by the nursery and extra-curricular providers, ClickIT and Kidslingo.

Nursery owners Ash Pajpani and Anila Pajpani matched the fundraising total of £441 to make a donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital of £882.

Ash Pajpani said: “The team at Wembley Park and its sister nurseries, Rayners Lane and East Lane Montessori worked tirelessly in the lead up to the event, to create a day that would not only raise lots of money for charity but also to create some really special memories for families. When planning the event, we asked our existing families who their children would most love to meet, and the answer was a resounding ‘Bluey’ so we knew it had to be her.”

Wembley Park Montessori is part of the Inspire Schools group of nurseries and pre-schools which also includes Rayners Lane Montessori in South Harrow and East Lane Montessori in Wembley.
