Nursery owner marks Apprenticeship Week with free event
A London nursery owner is running a free training event for nursery owners and human resources leaders to mark National Apprenticeship Week.
Jennifer Lewis, chief executive of Smarty Pants Abbey Lane Nursery and Clever Cloggs Day Nursery in east London, is running the event to bring local nursery owners together to share insight, advice and strategies for childcare providers when employing apprentices.
Lewis said she was running the event because she believes collaboration among early years settings is vital. “It is important that nursery owners come together to share ideas, access training and make our voices heard,” she said.
Topics at the event, which takes place at Mary Ward Adult Education on 13 February, include insights into financial support, such as how to access funds from the apprenticeship levy transfer scheme and advice on National Insurance exemption for employers. Tickets can be booked online.
Speakers include The Childcare Company’s partnership managers Ali Franklin and Katrina Bray on diversity in childcare and supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Philip Manley, communications manager and Victoria Whitwell, early years programme specialist at e-Qualitas will talk about early years teacher training, while other speakers include Hawk Training and ELA Training Services.
