Nursery establishes successful intergenerational programme
Tops Yeovil has established an intergenerational programme aimed at fostering connections and enriching the lives of children and care home residents.
As part of the Joining Generations scheme, Tops Yeovil organises monthly visits to Compton View care home, bringing together children from different age groups to interact with the residents.
The staff and residents at Compton View warmly welcome the children, setting up engaging activities and games for them to enjoy together.
“The reactions of the residents when they see the children are truly heartwarming,” said Annalea Davies, nursery manager at Tops Yeovil. “It’s amazing to witness the genuine connections that form between the generations. For the children, it’s an opportunity to learn compassion, empathy, and confidence, while for the residents, it’s like a trip down memory lane.”.
