Just Childcare founder joins Blossom Educational board

Blossom Educational has announced the appointment of David Johnson to their board with immediate effect.

Johnson, an industry veteran with over 35 years of experience in the education and technology sector, joins Blossom as it continues to drive domestic and international growth with enterprise clients and deliver learning and parent communication solutions.

Commenting on the appointment, Shyam Thakrar, Blossom managing director said: “We are excited about the wealth of experience that David brings to the Blossom board, particularly his insights and understanding of not only technology and the education sector, but the needs within large nursery groups to drive integration, group reporting, resource utilisation and business efficiency.”

Johnson’s experience runs much deeper than simply managing a group of 63 settings with around 1,300 employees; having led and re-structured numerous organisations that have grown organically and successfully divested, one of which was an IPO on the LSE. More recently, overseeing the integration and sale of Just Childcare into Partou, the largest nursery group in the Netherlands.

Johnson’s core remit is to contribute in shaping Blossom’s technology roadmap; commenting Johnson said: “without doubt, having engaged the Blossom board over the past two years, their learning and parent communication platform is on another level in terms of usability, which is what really drives user adoption with practitioners. However, what really interests me is the ability to lever this type of technology into the ultimate business transformational tool, for example group revenue and occupancy reporting to staff mobilisation and utilisation across multiple sites.”

As the education sector grapples with underfunding, increased pressure on overheads, the market availability of talent vs. other sector pay and crucially consolidation, more than ever nursery groups are fast exploring and gravitating to fully integrated business solutions where learning and parent communication is at the fore.
