The week ahead: 13-20 October
Don’t miss out! We’ll help you plan the next seven days with our round-up of everything that’s happening in the early years sector.
Get baking
Did you know 14 to 20 October is National Baking Week? It was originally set up by cookware company Pyrex but it has now taken on a life of its own. Obviously it is a great time to bake with the children, and to share recipes they can make at home with their parents, but you could also think about taking the opportunity to introduce parents to your cooks.
Review your menopause policy
World Menopause Day 2023 is on 18 October. Given the overwhelmingly female nature of the early years workforce, menopause support is something managers need to think about. The British Menopause Society is launching a news-style programme on World Menopause Day, featuring Louise Minchin talking to businesses about best-practice menopause policies.
Ofsted update
Technically it is not this week but you might want to plan ahead – London’s Ofsted Big Conversation returns on the 25 October 2023, chaired by June O’Sullivan of the London Early Years Foundation and joined by Ofsted representatives. The free event will include a presentation from Ofsted Wendy Ratcliff HMI, an update from the London Ofsted Team and an introduction to the new Early Years Coalition.
