Busy Bees to open new nursery in Staffordshire

Busy Bees is returning to its roots after nearly 40 years

Busy Bees, which was formed in 1983 and opened its first nursery in 1984 at The Rocklands in Lichfield, is set to open a brand-new nursery on Birmingham Road in Lichfield early next year.

The new nursery will cater for 110 children across all age groups; babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. It will feature bright and spacious rooms, with lots of room for children to play and explore including creative play areas, large outdoor spaces, a living nature wall, and brand-new bespoke furniture.

Starting with just one nursery with an aspiration to give children the best start in life, Busy Bees now cares for more than 40,000 children and has over 387 centres across the UK and Ireland, and 75,000 children globally across 10 countries.

Marg Randles, co-founder of Busy Bees, said: “I am so proud to be opening a brand-new nursery in Lichfield and bringing our business back to where it all began. This is a truly special moment for me as my children were some of the first to become part of the Busy Bees family.

“Whilst we are now one of the UK’s largest childcare providers, our values have remained the same, to provide children with the best start in life, and this will only continue. Over the next few months, we will be pouring our hearts into our new nursery, ensuring that we create a nurturing and supportive environment for generations to come. We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome families to our new Lichfield nursery.”

Mark and Sue Capel are the parents of the first children who attended The Rocklands nursery in the 1980s. Their two children, Amy (39) and James (34), both live in Edinburgh with two children of their own.

Mark and Sue Capel, added: “Our Busy Bees experience was full of wonderful and happy memories. Our children would always come home happy after nursery, and as parents, that’s all we can ask for. Busy Bees created a caring and supportive environment and provided our children with lifelong skills and the opportunity to reach their potential before they start school. We wish Marg and Busy Bees the very best for their next adventure in Lichfield. We have no doubt Busy Bees will continue to give children the best start in life, just like they did for our children.”
