Busy Bees raises £52,750 for bereavement charity
Nursery group Busy Bees has beaten its own fundraising target and donated £52,750 to charity partner Child Bereavement UK as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
Busy Bees has partnered with Child Bereavement UK, which helps families rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies, since 2018. To date the company has raised more than £274,000 through activities including an Everest Base Camp trek, skydiving jumps, a wing walk, sponsored walks, special charity evenings, sponsored sleepovers and summer fayres.
Chris McCandless, Busy Bees chief executive, said: “This year, we decided as part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, to set ourselves a target of £40,000 to support our longstanding charity partner, Child Bereavement UK. We know our team and families are incredibly supportive of Child Bereavement UK’s worthy cause but we are always blown away with their fundraising efforts and donations, and this year was no different. We were delighted to discover that we had in fact exceeded our target, meaning our fundraising efforts will go even further in supporting families who are experiencing unimaginable grief.”
Ann Chalmers, chief executive of Child Bereavement UK, said: “To put this donation into context, £50,000 could fund our support service for schools and nurseries for six months, equipping staff and teachers with the tools and confidence to support their school community after the death of a pupil, parents or member of staff.”
