Neuromusical evidence videos
Boogie Mites music programmes and training have always been informed by the neuroscience evidence and we have long followed the work of Dr Anita Collins who is based in Australia. Anita has travelled the world visiting neuroscience laboratories that research the effect of music on the brain throughout life. She translates the findings into everyday language and provides materials, books, lectures and online courses for advocating the vital part of music in education. Anita has created 4 video modules that explain the neuromusical evidence regarding the impact of music on brain development in early years exclusively for Boogie Mites, it is her first focus on early years. The videos cover:
Part 1 – A whole brain workout
The history of neuromusical research and the astounding early findings. Music learning links to language, attention span and executive function.
Part 2 – Sensory networks
Research findings that show how music supports the triangle connecting the auditory, visual and motor cortices of the brain and the neural networks that stem from this triangle.
Part 3 – Causal and correlational connections
Music learning supporting phonological development and school readiness skills including social, behavioural and spatial awareness connections.
Part 4 – What music activities? School ready skills through music
Rhythmic and melodic awareness exercises. Group music making for harnessing team work skills. Building strong foundations for literacy and learning generally, ready for school.
