Berkshire nursery sold to local operators
Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Rainbows Childcare in Hungerford, Berkshire.
Rainbows Childcare, which operates from a recently refurbished facility on Priory Road, is a family-run business with a highly qualified team in place to care for up to 54 children aged 3 months to 5 years old.
The business originally traded as Little Rainbows in Charnham Park, Hungerford, in 2004 with Michele Murphy as director and childcare manager. In 2009, Michele partnered with Alan Laird and the business became Rainbows Childcare.
The business opened a second site at Priory Road, Hungerford, in 2016 and, in 2018, the two sites were combined into one at Priory Road, which has since enjoyed high occupancy levels and a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating.
Alan and Michele decided to sell to explore other ventures and, following a confidential marketing process, the business has been sold to local operators, Neil and Marina Sturmey, who own Turville Forest School Nursery and Badgemore Pre-School in nearby Turville and Henley.
Michele and Alan commented: “We are pleased the business is being taken over by Neil and Marina who already run an established family-owned and operated childcare business. We believe the business will be in good hands and Michele will be staying on for a little while to help the new owners get established to ensure the business continues to provide a high-quality childcare setting for children, parents and staff.”
Sophie Willcox, director, Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, stated: “I wish Neil and Marina all the best with Rainbow Childcare. As we are seeing in the rest of the South, there is great demand for good quality freehold or leasehold nurseries in Berkshire.”
Rainbows Childcare was sold for an undisclosed price.
